FAQ
How do
I access cPanel?
To access your cPanel
you can simply open up internet explorer and navigate
to: http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel.
How do I upload my Website?
The best option for this is FTP (File Transfer
Protocol). You can find many free applications for FTP
at
http://www.download.com.
FTP gives you the ability to transfer files from your
computer to the server. So you can write your web pages
in an HTML editor such as Frontpage, Notepad, or
dreamweaver. Then using FTP, you can upload them
directly to the server into the the public_html
directory (CPanel)
Your "Welcome Email" that you received when signing up
has all the information needed to login using FTP.
How do I move my Website from my
old host to iGREENhost?
Yes, it is very simple for us to transfer over your
entire website including your MySQL databases and DNS
entrys. Basicly, all we would need to have is your old
account information, and we would then take that
information and use WHM to transfer your account
directly to our server.
What is SSL?
The SSL (secure socket layer) protocol is the web
standard for encrypting communications between users and
web sites. Data sent via an SSL connection is protected
by encryption, a mechanism that prevents eavesdropping
and tampering with any transmitted data. SSL provides
businesses and consumers with the confidence that
private data sent to a web site, such as credit card
numbers, are kept confidential. Web server certificates
are required to initialize an SSL session.
Why do I need a dedicated IP
address per domain that I want to secure?
You need to have a dedicated IP address for each domain
you want to secure. The reason for this is because a
certificate is bound only to a domain name but, the SSL
protocol is bound to static IP addresses; therefore, any
certificate-enabled web site must have its own unique IP
address. The IP can be real (routable) or internal (RFC
1918 non-routable address) and it must be unique on a
server.
How can I backup my site?
You can generate a backup at any time. This is useful if
you have just made some changes to the site and you do
not want to have to wait for the routine backup (daily)
before downloading the backup.
To generate a backup:
Login to cPanel (http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel)
Click on the Backup button on the home page.
Click on the Generate/Download a Full Backup link.
Click on the location for the backup from the Backup
Destination drop-down list. The following locations are
available:
Home Directory - Saves the backup in the public_html
level of your site.
Remote Ftp Server - Saves the backup on a specified
remote FTP server.
Remote Ftp Server (passive mode transfer) - Saves the
backup on a specified remote FTP server that will only
accept passive (PASV) mode FTP transfer. Please refer to
your hosting administrator or the remote FTP server if
you have questions about passive mode transfer.
Enter your e-mail address in the Email Address field. An
e-mail will be sent to this address when the backup has
completed.
Enter the FTP address, user name, and password in the
Remote Server, Remote User, and Remote Password fields
if you are saving the backup file at a remote location.
Click on the Generate Backup button. An e-mail will be
sent to the specified address when the backup has
finished and can be downloaded.
How do I restore my website
backup?
In the unlikely event that your web site or other files
are deleted from your web host's servers, you can
restore the web site using your most recent backup file.
To restore your web site from a backup file:
Click on the Backup button on the home page.
Click on the Browse... button next to the relevant area
that you want to restore.
Search for and double-click on the relevant backup file
(in .gz format).
Click on the Upload button.
Note: You may need to wait for a few minutes to upload
and restore a large web site file.
What is a Domain Name Transfer?
Domain Transfer is a process to transfer / change your
domain registration from your existing Registrar to
another new Registrar.
If you want to transfer your domain to iGREENhost, first
you would get a new account with us. Then we will
transfer all of your website files. Once that is done,
you would need to update your domain name's DNS/nameservers
(with the company that registered your domain) with our
Nameservers. That's all there is to it.
After your domain is completely pointing to your new
hosting account, you could then safely cancel your old
hosting account. We setup all accounts within 15 minutes
of receiving your payment. Once you've updated your
domain name's nameservers - it takes about 24-72 hours
for your domain name to start working with your new
hosting account.
